An access log is a text file containing an extensive list of all the files accessed by your Internet site visitors. All the files that were requested in one way or another shall be included, so if you have a PHP script program and a visitor opens only the home page, for example, you may find many files inside the log. This is because there are components on the home page that are embedded - parts of other Internet pages, graphics, etcetera. These files will be listed in the access log, so you can get a complete picture of the way your Internet site works. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are sometimes described as "raw data" too. An access log contains the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, web browser and Operating System. Additional information, including the referrer Internet site, is oftentimes provided too. A log file can be processed by various desktop programs for statistical purposes as an addition to the web stats supplied by your server.
Access Log Manager in Website Hosting
When you purchase a website hosting
from us, you'll be able to choose if access logs have to be produced and for which domains or subdomains in your account this should be done. You can activate this feature from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, incorporated with all shared accounts. Each and every domain
you host or subdomain you create shall be listed there and you see an On/Off option next to each one of them, so you can conveniently trigger or disable the generation of access logs separately for every site that you have. You can save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you'll see within the same section of the Control Panel. The link shall be available even if you stop the log generation, so you will still have access to the data collected by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
If you host your sites within a semi-dedicated server
account with our company, you will have the option to enable or deactivate the generation of access logs with only a couple of mouse clicks from your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall find this function within the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access once you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is one click on the On button that you can see there. The function can be activated individually for any Internet site no matter if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you'll find a complete list of all the hosts inside that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with simply a click and you could then see it manually or use some software on your personal computer. The log generation can be disabled by simply switching the On option to Off in the Logs section of your Control Panel.
